The Power in the Word of God
* The Word of God is God Himself: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
* The Word of God is Jesus Christ: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14
* The Word of God is the Holy Spirit: … The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
Truly, the Word of God is the foundation of life. Your understanding of the Word and your application of it to your life is what will determine your success. When a person does not have the Word inside their heart; they are easy prey for the devil. We cannot rely on the Word of men because the person who promises a thing can pass away; governments can change; systems can be altered – only the Word of God abides forever. The Bible says Forever, O LORD, thy Word is settled in heaven Psalm 119:89-96
THERE IS POWER IN THE WORD
The creation we see all around us today testifies to the power in God’s Word. In Genesis 1 we read that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth…. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light… And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters… and it was so… And God said, let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so”. And in Psalm 33.6 it says: “By the Word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” If the Word of God is spoken from the heart of a believer it will create something out of nothing. “ As the rain and snow come down from heaven and stay upon the ground to water the earth, and cause the grain to grow and to produce seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry, so also is my Word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It shall accomplish all I want it to and prosper everywhere I send it”. Isaiah 55:10-11 (TLB) The answer to the things we crave is in the Word, the solutions to the problems we face, is in the Word. This is why satan tries to keep people from knowing the Word and praying the Word. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is deadly. When you have the truth and light of God’s Word you will be set free.
KNOW THE WORD
Believers must never allow anything to stop them from personal Bible study, or their pursuit of knowing and memorising the Word. It is our weapon of victory in the day of evil. A child of God cannot stay away from the Word and have victory. We go back to the Word to constantly feed our spirits, grow in God, and become the best that God wants us to be. Everything you need in life is in the Word of God.
God’s Word is alive and powerful and brings life wherever it goes: “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the [a] breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analysing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (AMP).
DOMINION
Do you want to operate in life from a place of dominion? Then you must go back to the Word. The Word is your source of dominion as we see in Ephesians 2:6-7: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus…” and in John 15:7: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
When you stay in the Word and let the Word stay in you; when you drink from that River of Life daily, you will continually bear fruit, you will operate in dominion and you will not be dominated, as we see in Psalm 1. When you operate in Bible dominion, you stand on the Word of God. You declare it by faith and the Word produces fruit in your life. To have dominion over sickness, poverty or any challenge of life, you need to have the Word in you. So that when the enemy comes you can speak the Word only.
VICTORY
God’s Word is mighty. The only way to get victory and maintain victory is through God’s Word. God’s creative force is released with His Word; so when you speak the Word of God, you release its power into your life. The Word of God is the only source of victory. When you want to be delivered the Word of God will set you free: The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. Proverbs 12:6
How does the mouth deliver? By speaking the Word of God. When satan comes with an attack, the child of God needs to speak the Word of God. When you speak the Word of God, you are not just talking for the sake of talking. There are two kinds of speech in this world –a voice and a noise. You are either a noise or a voice. Jesus was a voice – that’s why He spoke to the fig tree and it obeyed. The sons of Sceva were a noise and were attacked by the very demon they were trying to cast out. God’s Word is your source of Power. Through it you will come to an understanding of who God is, who you are in Him and what you have. You must have the Word inside of you. Hold onto it, confess it and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth. Then, you will have the victory.
